The Lake District is full of beautiful fells and Cobble Cottage has many on its doorstep. Latrigg is closest and easily walkable from the doorstep, further afield is Catbells, Castle Cragg, Great Gable and so on. If you want something more moderate the walk round Derwentwater is beautiful.
The Valley of Borrowdale which Keswick sits at the foot of is excellent for climbing, with many fast drying crags of different grades. The guidebook for the area is Borrowdale by the FRCC. Cobble Cottage is about 10min drive from Shepherd's Crag. If the weather is not cooperating there are a few climbing walls nearby also.
Cobble Cottage sits next to the Keswick to Threlkeld cycle path and connects with National Cycle Route 71. For mountain biking there are some great choices; Whinlatter Forest has some fantastic trails, easy parking and only 12min drive from the Cottage.
Derwentwater is great for Sailing, Paddle-boarding and Kayaking. If you are after something different there is Ghyll Scrambling or plenty of places to wild swim.
Where there are fells there can be fell running. The Bob Graham Round starts and finishes at Moot Hall in Keswick, Borrowdale is great for fell running.
